Irish Soda Bread (no buttermilk version)

Irish Soda Bread–White Version   Combine:

4 cups flour

1 tablespoon sugar

1-3/4 teaspoons baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1-1/2 cups water

2 teaspoons cider vinegar

Stir; it very quickly becomes dough. Form a round loaf. Place on greased baking sheet. Cut slits in top. Bake 40 minutes at 400° F.

I made this Saturday with lil m, and here is a photo of how it turned out. We ate it with our meal (chicken and rice with brown gravy) Saturday, and we used the leftovers on Sunday. We made chicken stew from the previous nights meal and then put the soda bread on the very top of the stew, in the pan, put the lid on to warm it up. Sort of like a chicken and dumpling. Now thats a way to use leftovers.
