This recipe review was inspired by the Minimalist Baker’s Quick & Easy Crispy Tofu recipe.
Times are tough. Food prices keep going up, and yet the wages are not. After losing over 60lb. I knew I needed to mind not only the budget but also the calorie range. I love beans, but there are only so many days of the week I want to eat beans, so I began my quest for something not so heavy but also light on the wallet.
Tofu is pretty cheap, and its a decent amount of protein, which helps me hit my macros. I went on a hunt and came across “Crispy Oven Baked Tofu” by the Minimalist Baker.
I actually like tofu, but I need to be crispy and not that weird squishy sponge texture. I think I found a winner!

Taste: The tofu achieves a delightful crispy texture with a subtle infusion of flavor from the chosen seasoning. The recipe’s flexibility allows for customization, making it adaptable to various cuisines or to remain neutral for versatile use.
Texture: The method of pressing the tofu before seasoning and baking results in a pleasingly firm texture. The outer crust crisps up while the interior remains tender, providing a satisfying contrast.
Ease of Preparation: This recipe is incredibly easy to follow, with clear instructions that guide you through each step. The minimal ingredients and simple process make it accessible even for those new to cooking or working with tofu.

For this recipe, I used Weber grilling Garlic Sriracha seasoning.
Additional Notes: The recommendation of using an oven-safe skillet is practical, allowing for a seamless transition from stovetop to oven, minimizing cleanup. The suggestion of pairing the crispy tofu with different sauces further enhances its versatility and appeal. However, I just used a baking sheet covered in tin foil. Works well and cleanup is super simple and quick.
Storage and Reheating: The crispy tofu stores well in the refrigerator for up to three days and reheats beautifully in the oven, retaining its crunchiness and flavor. This allowed me to pair it with some brown rice for an easy meal prep.
Overall Impression: Minimalist Baker’s Crispy Oven Baked Tofu recipe is a winner, offering an uncomplicated yet effective method to achieve crispy, flavorful tofu. Its simplicity, adaptability, and delicious outcome make it a valuable addition to any meal.
