Strawberry Banana Greenie
If you judged by the title and guessed I made it to the grocery store for produce you would be right! I was suffering through the 30 Day Green Smoothie Challenge because I haven’t been able to get to the store!
Yah for grocery store trips! Woot!
I am not a fan of grocery shopping. Once upon a time in a land far away called Oklahoma I did not mind it. Since moving to Michigan and landing myself in the middle of nowhere, grocery shopping has become much more of a chore than it should be. What I used to find fun and relaxing I now find stressful and something that gives me great big huge amounts of anxiety.
But, it is something that must be done.
I am thankful for a little variety with Day 7 (8,9, and 10) Strawberry Banana Greenie. I was super excited to see some strawberries in the grocery store on sale that actually looked like fresh homegrown strawberries. And let me tell you they tasted wonderful.
I should know, I tested. 😉
There might be a part of me that was actually excited to get to the grocery store and shop for produce because we were out of everything.
This smoothie was a little thicker due to the banana so I went back to having 2 small jars to fill. I even tried to make a cuter photo for Instagram. Pretty huh?

So how was my first week of the Green Smoothie 30-Day Challenge?
Well, it was not as bad as I expected. There were some issues like the lack of produce and I had some worries about my first weekend. But I think I handled and survived it. First I was worried about how I would handle having a smoothie while everyone else was eating. I do a lot of cooking for YUM on the weekends and this also tends to be family bonding time. Lunch is usually a smaller meal so I thought replacing my own lunch with a smoothie would not be too big of a deal if I fed them leftovers.
That is exactly what I did and it turned out to work out well. Despite lack of ingredients I still managed to make it through Week 1!
I’m pretty excited to use some of the recipes from my cookbook and it’s giving me a lot of ideas for my new one. Not to mention, a lot of smoothie recipes to share on YUM!
I used to have smooothies every day for lunch until I became lazy 🙂 Looks good! Thanks for linking at #TYSH
I detest grocery shopping too. I’m not quite sure when it happened – but I seem to suffer from the same “what do I need!” feelings in the market. I’m impressed with your 30 day challenge and am thinking about giving it a go. This one looks good! Do you recommend a specific protein powder?
I have tried a lot over the years and while I enjoy Ideal Shape and find the flavor and price to be spot-on, I always go back to Designer Whey because I can easily get it in my supermarket or drug store.
