TikTok Made Me Try It: Protein Cookie

In the ever-evolving landscape of social media, TikTok has emerged as a powerhouse for viral trends and challenges. From dance crazes to cooking hacks, the platform has a knack for sparking global phenomena seemingly overnight. Recently, my feed was inundated with videos showcasing a new sensation: protein cookies. Intrigued by the buzz surrounding these supposedly guilt-free treats, I decided to dive into the trend and share my firsthand experience.

As someone who values both health and indulgence, the concept of a protein cookie piqued my interest. Promising to deliver a satisfying snack without the guilt typically associated with traditional cookies, these treats seemed too good to be true. Armed with enthusiasm and a healthy dose of skepticism, I set out to procure a batch of these trendy cookies and put them to the test.

And this is how it went.

First off – I do not consider myself a food blogger anymore. Not since I sold my YUMeating brand and moved all of that foodie content over here. Due to that, I do not care about staging photos for the most perfect, glorious, Pinterest worthy photograph. While I appreciate the art of a good food photo, that is not what we’re doing here. Soooooooo, these photos are — well, they are what they are. A photo of the ingredients that I used.

Some Weight Watchers chocolate flavor seasoning.

Some green nonfat plain yogurt.

Some Quest apple cinnamon protein powder. (super yum by the way!)

Some powdered peanut butter. (use the brand you like the best)

Some brown rice cakes. (use whatever brand of rice or popcorn cakes you like. experiment with various flavors)

Wax paper.

TikTok videos with instructions.

Mix it all in the bowl.

Place on wax paper.

Freeze until hard.

I mixed, worked out, and it was ready for me after my workout was complete.

Wasn’t too bad to be honest. I could have added some mix ins like so many others did, but I didn’t have any at the time. Would defiantly try to make other batches with various flavors.

Packed with protein and low in sugar, these cookies are a convenient option for satisfying hunger cravings while supporting fitness goals. Whether enjoyed as a post-workout snack or a guilt-free dessert, they provide a welcome alternative to traditional sweets without sacrificing flavor.

So, is the protein cookie trend worth the hype? In my opinion, yes and no. While they certainly deliver on their promise of providing a satisfying and guilt-free snack, they’re not without their caveats. As with any food trend, it’s essential to approach protein cookies with moderation and mindfulness. That being said, if you’re looking for a convenient and tasty way to support your fitness goals while indulging your sweet tooth, then diving into the protein cookie trend might just be worth it after all.
