I looooooved butterscotch as a kid. I remember the days of my mother making butterscotch pudding on the stove. I wouldn’t wait for it to cool. I enjoyed each and every bite just a little bit warm and oh so creamy. I remember going through this phase where I wanted all my candy to have butterscotch flavor. If I had to pick between chocolate and butterscotch, it was always butterscotch. As an adult, I don’t eat it near what I used to. Ok, So maybe I am the only one who gets a kick out of Starbuck’s pumpkin spice commercial. I love pumpkin spice season and on occasion I’ll enjoy a Starbucks treat. I started making my own pumpkin spice coffee at home when I was floored (literally, hubs had to pick me up off the floor) when I found out how many calories were actually in a non fat no whip version. Oh, and if you’d like to have your mind blown like I did, there’s also a whole lot of garbage in them. Although, sometimes, I don’t pay much attention to some of that stuff people complain about. Let me ask you this, do you drink smoothies all year round? For those of you who do, I am dying to know how you manage to drink them when it’s cold outside. I have tried a warm protein drink, putting it in my oatmeal, using it as a glaze on donuts and I believe their was a time I tried making pancakes with it. #fail I have tried not using frozen fruits and spinach, but (to me) it’s still like a frozen summer treat. I need to find a way around this because I looooooove my smoothies. While I still drink them, I just find it harder in the cooler months. I know it’s been a while since I have posted a new smoothie recipe. Believe me when I say – I have been hard at work! I’ve been working on a PDF freebie that contains a rather large amount of smoothies. I’ve been trying to work on making clickable links, but it is soooooooooooooo time consuming. I’m also working on another recipe book. While I have all the recipes and the cover is made, I have a few more pages to put together. So, if you don’t have a copy of the first volume, Do Anything with Protein Powder, I would snap it up now at 99 cents before the price increases!
Do tell. How has your smoothies been working out for you this summer? I fell off the smoothie wagon for a week or so. I usually have one for lunch or breakfast. But, even I need a break once in a while. I start to crave them so I go back to them. I don’t have a problem eating healthy, its just the late night snacking that causes me so much of a problem! If you have spent any time around here, you know I love my smoothies. But, I have quickly learned something these last few months. I am not much of a fan of photographing my smoothies. It’s super easy for me to whip out my phone and snap a photo for Instagram. But trying to make my smoothies look fancy and special doesn’t seem to be my forte as you can tell with this variety of photos.
So, while they may not always look so pretty, they sure are pretty yummy and give me a healthy breakfast (or lunch) I can be proud of. [Read more…]
