The 3 Types of Home Cleaning That Will Ensure Your House Remains Spotless

Most people get overwhelmed by the prospect of cleaning their home, especially if they’ve got to clean a multi-bedroom house with numerous bathrooms. The idea of getting all the cleaning supplies out and spending hours tidying up is enough to make you put it off again and again. Before you know it, weeks have passed, and the dust has gotten thicker, meaning the task is ten times as hard as it was initially.

As hard as it is to hype yourself up for a home cleaning mission, you can keep your property tidy by utilizing three different types of cleaning:

  • The Daily Clean
  • The Weekly/Bi-Weekly Clean
  • The Deep Clean

Each one gets you to clean slightly differently, but then they come together to ensure that your home remains spotless. You’ll also realize that they make it easier for you to keep up with a regular cleaning schedule without feeling like you’re putting in maximum effort. So, let’s look at each of these types of home cleaning to see what you have to do.

The Daily Clean

The whole point of a daily clean is to get you into the habit of doing little things here and there that prevent your house from getting out of hand. It’s stuff that you can implement as part of your normal routine without spending hours – or even more than 10 or so minutes – scrubbing away at surfaces, hoovering, etc.

For example, it’s the act of decluttering as you go. You see things that aren’t where they should be, and you pick them up and pack them away. You don’t leave things lying about as much, and you also prevent clutter from compounding and making your home look extremely messy.

Your daily clean can also extend to wiping down or sweeping up in areas that are likely to get messy really quickly. After cooking dinner in the evening, get a spray out and wipe down the work surfaces – and keep a broom or a small vacuum handy to pick up crumbs from the floor. Use a squeegee in your bathroom after you shower and keep a flannel or cloth so you can wipe down the surfaces and prevent dust from accumulating.

It’s really not hard to do any of this stuff, but the goal is to prevent your home from getting messier and messier.

The Weekly/Bi-Weekly Clean

You can call this a weekly or bi-weekly clean depending on your home and how dirty it gets. Houses with kids and pets will probably need to do this weekly, but if you’re on your own or living with your partner (and no one else), then cleaning every two weeks is more than enough.

It’s a step above your daily clean in that you will spend a little bit more time going around the house and cleaning the main areas. You’ll be vacuuming the floors, giving them a mop if necessary, and dusting all the surfaces. This is also where you give your bathroom and kitchen slightly deeper cleans, but nothing crazy.

All in all, this type of clean should only take you an hour or so. It may even be quicker, depending on how well you keep up with the daily cleaning tasks.

The Deep Clean

Now, the deep clean is when you really get into all the corners of your home and clean things that rarely get touched. It’s something you only have to do once every few months to prevent dirt from getting properly stuck around your home. You can do it yourself, but professional cleaning services might be a better idea, just to ensure everything is cleaned thoroughly – and also to save you a lot of time.

Your goal with a deep clean is to move furniture out of the way and get to the spots that you don’t always reach with a weekly/bi-weekly clean. Yes, it requires a lot of physical effort, but that’s why you don’t do it all the time. You may also find that the regular cleaning you’ve been doing stops your home from generating loads of dust and dirt anyway, so deep cleans are needed less frequently.

Cleaning your home is easier when you take different approaches instead of assuming that everything needs a deep clean all the time. If you’re able to clean as you go every day, then your home automatically feels less cluttered and stays a bit cleaner. The weekly or bi-weekly cleaning routine then goes a tad deeper to keep things in order before a much deeper clean happens maybe once, twice, or three times a year.
