My Journey on 7.5mg

My journey with Zepbound began 17 weeks ago, but the last nine weeks on the 7.5mg dose have been particularly significant. I approached this phase of my weight loss experience with an open mind and a commitment to learning. Zepbound, a GLP-1 medication, promised to help manage hunger and cravings, allowing me to refocus on healthy eating and lifestyle choices.

During this time, I experienced various emotions, from excitement to frustration. There were moments when I doubted my choices and questioned whether this path would lead to the changes I sought. But as I dove deeper into this journey, I began to unlock insights about my relationship with food, my body, and my overall well-being.

Join me as I explore the key elements of my 60-day experience with Zepbound, sharing the challenges and triumphs that shaped my journey toward unlocking weight loss.

Understanding Zepbound and Its Role in My Journey

The Basics of Zepbound

Zepbound is a medication designed to assist in weight management by mimicking the effects of a naturally occurring hormone in the body. This hormone, GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1), plays a crucial role in regulating appetite and glucose levels. By enhancing the feeling of fullness, Zepbound aids in reducing calorie intake, making it easier to stick to a healthier diet.

When I started my treatment, I was intrigued by the science behind it. The notion of having a tool that could support my weight loss journey while I focused on building healthier habits felt promising. However, I understood that this medication wasn’t a magic bullet. It required dedication, patience, and an overall commitment to my well-being.

Initial Reactions and Adaptations

As I began taking Zepbound, I experienced some very minimal initial side effects, which is common with many medications. Nausea and changes in appetite were part of my early days, and I found myself navigating these sensations while trying to maintain a balanced approach to food. Instead of viewing these challenges as setbacks, I embraced them as part of the learning curve.

Throughout the first few weeks, I focused on developing a routine that included mindful eating, exploring new recipes, and incorporating regular physical activity. I discovered the importance of listening to my body—recognizing when I was hungry and when I was full. This mindfulness shifted my perspective on food from a source of stress to a means of nourishment and pleasure.

Building a Supportive Environment

Finding Community

One of the most powerful aspects of my journey has been the support I found within my community. Whether through online forums (Reddit) or social media groups (Facebook), connecting with others who shared similar experiences made a significant difference. The encouragement and shared stories motivated me on days when my resolve waned.

I actively participated in discussions about Zepbound, sharing my experiences and seeking advice from those further along in their journeys. This sense of camaraderie reinforced my commitment and reminded me that I wasn’t alone in navigating the complexities of weight loss.

The Role of Professional Guidance

In addition to community support, I sought guidance from my healthcare professional. Regular check-ins with my doctor ensured that I was on the right track and provided valuable insights into my progress. We discussed my goals, adjustments to my regimen, and strategies for overcoming challenges.

This collaboration with medical professionals instilled a sense of accountability in my journey. It also equipped me with the knowledge I needed to make informed decisions about my health. Together, we created a plan incorporating Zepbound, a balanced diet, and an active lifestyle—setting the foundation for lasting change.

Since I already had most of this in place, it was really easy for me to pick back up and get back on track with my wellness journey. Only this time, I was equipped to beat the PCOS game and better grasp the perimenopause finally.

Embracing Change

Navigating Lifestyle Adjustments

As I delved deeper into my experience with Zepbound, I realized that lasting weight loss requires more than just medication; it involves a holistic approach to wellness. I began reevaluating my lifestyle habits, from my eating patterns to my physical activity levels.

Meal planning became an essential part of my routine. I explored various healthy recipes and incorporated more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into my diet—protein first, then fiber.

I also embraced the idea of cooking at home, discovering the joy of preparing meals from scratch. This shift nourished my body and rekindled my love for food. This also led to meal-prepping again.

Cultivating Mindfulness and Self-Compassion

Throughout this journey, I learned the importance of mindfulness and self-compassion. It’s easy to get caught up in the numbers on the scale, but I discovered that my worth is not defined by my weight. I have always wanted to get to a place where I truly felt this and I can say, that I am finally on my way. Practicing gratitude for my body and its capabilities helped me shift my focus from mere aesthetics to overall well-being.

I implemented mindfulness practices, such as meditation and journaling, into my daily routine. These tools allowed me to process my emotions, celebrate my victories, and address any setbacks without judgment. Embracing self-compassion became a vital part of my journey, reminding me that progress is not linear.

Reflecting on My 60-Day Journey

Achievements and Insights

As I approach the end of my 60 days on Zepbound at 7.5mg, I reflect on the progress I’ve made. I’ve experienced no noticeable reduction in cravings compared to 5mg or 2.5mg, but I was still allowed to make healthier choices without feeling deprived. I’ve also been much more consistent with working out—doing my virtual races and earring more medals for my Celebration Wall.

One of the most profound insights I gained was understanding the power of patience. Weight loss is not just about the destination but the journey. Celebrating small victories helped me stay motivated and committed to my goals.

It has been completely life-changing to not have the voices in your head constantly talking about food 24.7. It is nice to eat less than I used to and not feel like I am starving 30 minutes later.

Moving Forward with Confidence

As I continue my journey, I feel more empowered and equipped to navigate the path ahead. The combination of Zepbound, community support, and a renewed wellness perspective has transformed my weight loss approach. I now view it as a lifelong journey rather than a temporary fix.

My Dr. and I met last week for my check-up. She is extremely happy with my progress. Because 7.5mg fizzled out so quickly, we decided to move up to the next dose of 10mg and that is where I will stay for the next 3 months, unless I cannot tolerate it and need to come back down. My insurance has approved me for any dose of the medication until the end of the year. So, we will meet again in January and see where we stand.

Moving forward, I plan to maintain the habits I’ve developed over the past 17 weeks. I’ll continue to explore new foods, engage in physical activities that excite me, and cultivate a mindset of self-love and acceptance. The journey doesn’t end here; it’s just the beginning of a healthier, happier me.

I have about 10-15 more pounds to lose in the weight loss portion of this journey. From there, we will go on maintenance and see where my “sweet spot” is with dosing and how long it takes to go between doses. Once we find that, this is where I will be for the rest of my life—or unless something changes.

It was also discussed that I focus more on strength and toning and shift my focus less on cardio. I agreed and will make it a point to return to my weight-lifting and toning workouts.

Embracing the Future

In my experience with Zepbound 7.5mg over the past 60 days, I’ve unlocked not only weight loss but also a deeper understanding of myself. This journey has taught me the importance of balance, community, and self-compassion. As I share my story, I hope to inspire others who may be navigating similar challenges.
