When Matt and I were still living together, one of his/my favorite things to do was take the leftovers and create some sort of fried rice dinner. He’s made the majority of the ethnic cuisines shared here on Nevermore Lane. This one is no exception. It’s no big secret that he and I parted ways recently causing a shift in my life and changes in my living situation. As a result, my blog schedule fell to the wayside. What could be wrong with that? Anything wrapped in bacon is better, right
I love my cast iron skillet. I use it every chance I get – but not so much in the summer time because it’s just too hot in the summer to turn the oven on. It makes our air conditioners work harder. Since we live in an old farmhouse, we don’t have central heat and air. We have window units and since we have newer windows, we’ve not been able to find a window unit which fits inside the opening. Next year if we haven’t moved yet, we plan to get a floor model that is much more portable and it has a small hose that attaches to the window. [Read more…]
Friday! Woohooo. A few weeks ago we did a freebie Friday and I mentioned we would start rotating Fridays with freebies and frugal. Except, last Friday I failed because I shared Guinness Meat Pie instead. The meal was somewhat frugal. $2 for pastry shells $4 for the extra lean beef. The peas were $1 and the other ingredients I had on hand. So, a whole pie for about $7 and it (in our house) served 4. [Read more…]
Hey guys! I am excited for today’s post. Those of you who’ve been here a little while know how much my family enjoys roasts. So, it should be no surprise that Kristen from PAM (yes, the cooking spray!) reached out to me and asked for a guest post! Ok, maybe I am tooting my own horn a little bit. YUM is my baby and I have poured a lot into her this last year. Every day provides new challenges and learning experiences.
