We made another trip to the Flint Farmers Market. A few weeks ago we weren’t able to make it and we stopped by the one in Grand Blanc. It was more of an arts and crafts fair and I was extremely disappointed. It was outside on a street that had been blocked off. It was just about the length of that block. Not big at all. Then, the Flint one was closed so they could move to their building. Husband and I went the first day they were in and it was a giant cluster and it wasn’t even the technical grand opening party. We could barely get through and it was so frustrating. [Read more…]
I know I complain about living in the country. Truth is, I actually like living in the country. Problem is, I live on the worst street ever. My home, despite its modest 2 acres, faces a highway that connects the smaller towns and is just a couple of miles from the expressway. We tend to get a lot of cross traffic and a lot of noise. I absolutely hate it here. There is nothing peaceful. Nothing relaxing. It’s not country living, that’s for sure.
Maybe someday I’ll move.
Until then, I appreciate what I do have around me, even if I have to take a little drive to get to it. [Read more…]
This weeks purchase consisted of some more of that wonderful bacon from last week. We decided that we are only going to buy our bacon fresh from the farmer. He just loved talking to us today and hearing about how excited I was for the fresh eggs and bacon last weekend. He had some bacon that was super fresh and had not even hit the freezer yet so I purchased 2 packages. I also purchased a giant fresh chicken. It was pretty expensive compared to the chicken you get in the store, but I know it is so much better for me. And, we get so much from our roasted chicken. We’ll get a few meals and some great stock from it. [Read more…]
I’m not sure if I’ll make this a regular series, but I would like to. It’s my mission for the summer. However I have my ‘Trash to Treasure Garden‘ to tend to, so we may not need a lot from the Farmer’s Market.
Saturday Mr. Yum and Kiddo Yum 🙂 and myself loaded up the car and decided to head over to Flint Farmer’s Market. It takes us about 20 minutes to get there if we use the expressway. I’ve only been there one other time and that time was pretty amazing. I was like the little kid in the candy shop with all the sights and smells. I was very much the “hey look at that,” “oooh look at this” person. I am pretty sure I drove my husband and friends nuts. It’s been a year since that day. This particular Farmers Market is open year round. Tues, Thur and Sat. Quite a bit is indoors so that is good for those vendors. [Read more…]
It doesn’t matter how many places I travel to in the state of Michigan, East Tawas will always be my favorite.
Where I currently live is just a few miles from where I lived as a small child before moving to Oklahoma. It is also a few miles from my grandparents house with a sprinkle of aunts, uncles and cousins here and there.
As a young girl I remember frequent trips to Tawas. When I moved to Oklahoma I couldn’t wait to come back every summer just so I could have a girl trip with my mother, grandmother, aunts and cousins.
