Cashew Greenie

cashew greenieGenerally I am a creature of habit when it comes to my smoothies. I’m trying really hard to get creative with some of these because I also know if I make the same thing every day I am going to get bored and quit.

This recipe was from Day 4 of the 30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge.  I had not been able to get to the store so I was scrounging through my cabinets and freezer to use ingredients on hand. I was actually quite surprised at how smooth and creamy this one turned out.

I was also pretty surprised at how easy it was to blend these cashew in my cheapie Kmart blender. Woot!

I think the added protein of the nuts was a good idea because I did not find myself feeling hungry after a few hours like I had with Day 1 and Day 2 smoothies.  I’m also one of those people who eats a piece of fruit and 5 minutes later my stomach is growing and I am about to gnaw off my arm.

  1. I’ve haven’t been using smoothies, but I have added nuts to my daily diet and I’ve found it really does cut back the hunger issues. I can tell when I’ve missed my daily dose because I get hungry despite what ever else I’ve eaten.

    1. I agree with adding nuts to the diet. I find that when I add a handful of almonds to my diet as a late afternoon snack I don’t feel so hungry around dinner time. This helps me keep my portions in check.
